When you click on an attachment in a document, you have the options to open or edit the attachment. Wherever you click, the attachment will open/edit in the same application. It would be nice if the application that open an attachment for reading is configurable.
So, by example, i can open an attachment for reading with the free MS Office Viewer, downloadable from Microsoft Web Site, and open the same attachment in OpenOffice or Symphony for editing.
I think, a migration from Microsoft Office to OpenOffice or Symphony would be easier, if you have the Opportunity to view and print Office Documents in his originally look, as they would look like in MS Office.

The application used to open an attachment is the application registered for the file extension in the OS. If Open Office is registered in the OS to open .doc files, then Open Office is what will be used to open .doc files from Notes. You want to duplicate the Windows function "Open with..." in Notes.

In the Windows OS i can register an application A to open .doc files, and register application B to edit .doc files.
Notes allways open the attachment .doc with the application B.
I want to open the attachment with application A and edit with application B, without an Open with ... function.

You get the View Attachment that will use the built in viewer that will work or save the attachment to a folder and use windows.
Adding more choices will confuse the average user that just wants to open it.

And i ask myself, who needs the view choice?
It would be better we can configure in the notes.ini which application is used when attachment will be opened and
when it will be edited.
Nobody needs three choises for two actions.
In my solution, if there is no entry for a attachmenttype in notes.ini, it would be open for view with the lotus notes viewer and open for edit with the application configured in the OS.
And i ask myself, who needs the view choice?
