In addition to the old-style fulltext search tied to a view, it would be great to be able to fire a qeuery against the whole database, and be able to do it from anywhere (an outline-entry, a hotspot on a document, a "search bar" in a frameset).
Now with version 8 we have got the nice search toolbar with ability to define search scope. Extend that to all kinds of databases, and add a new database-property to define the view, that should be used for this kind of search. In one type of application the view could select only open claims, and in another all documents except keyword-documents and documents marked for archival.
This special search-view would in many cases be the only view that we needed to maintain a full-text index for.
