My suggestion is this: replace the Notes memo letterhead with a photo of the sender.
This could be achieved by modifying the mailfile template to display an image called from a Directory view. This might use a new index value or simply use the person's internal name.
If integrated into the Directory, remote users with a replicated copy could access the images locally.
Also, allow users to toggle this feature in the same place for choosing a letterhead image.

The letterhead works well, because there is minimal overhead. It's pulls a locally stored file/image based upon an integer passed inside the message. Have to pull a thumbnail over the LAN from the server for each message routed would created impact...

Also, storing those images would increase the message size an eat up one's quota faster. The letterhead is pulled locally through the subform when opening a message--thus providing functionality with optimization.

Now if you can get around the network, server, and consumption, and performance issues to make it local, then you might have something here.

Then again, do I really want to see my boss' or executive's picture every time they send me an e-mail? They give me enough agita as it is.

We have it in Sametime, so why not in Notes e-mails, too?

I want letterhead to die a horrible flaming death, not make it even more obnoxious. :-p

I like the Idea but on the other side I think it would have a bad impact on the Network because of the lookup every time.

"How silly" is what I thought, when reading the subject line. But ... after thinking about it for some time, I can even imagine this to be a standard feature of the future. Taken details of a practical implementation aside, it could be a cool option.

@4 Charles, there are big companies that use the letterhead ... so you can keep dreaming for it's death while it outlives you and me.

The right option here would be to have an option where you could have your profile from Connections & Sametime appear there. That way, it wouldn't impact quote and all that. The profile should display on hover in a view and on demand when you open an email

I like this idea. personally, I don't find any value in the letterhead logo, other than being a "mood" option for some people and allows a very tiny bit of creativity and character when customizing how your message appears to other.

I vote on this idea if it were an option that could be enabled or disabled.

This would work very well in large organizations where putting a name with a face is very important.

It could also help in distinguishing/remembering who said what in a very long email thread when catching up on email after you've been out for a few days.

If the image isn't sent but referenced when you open the email, then there is little impact to network and internet mail users wouldn't get it.
