Folder Unread Marks for Domino Web Access
You may have noticed that IdeaJam now looks a bit different. That's because we are testing out some new themes that will be included with IdeaJam V2.0 coming in 2012. If you have any feedback about the new themes we would be happy to hear what you have to say. Please drop us a note.

Currently DWA users cannot see the unread marks in folders. This can hinder many organizations from a wider deployment of DWA because of email users who can't really effectively use rules in their mail files (without having to go te each folder and see if there are new messages). The competitive product offering from Microsoft (OWA) can show users the number of unread documents in specific folders.

I understand that there may be a performance concern with doing this, but I think this could be controlled via the server configuration document much like other DWA settings. Then let the customer decide if there is a performance issue with this.

I really do not know what you are referring to. I do have read marks in my folders with client 6.5.5, 7.0.2 and 8.0.

I'm talking about Domino WEB Access - not the Notes Client.
3) Bill Malchisky15151 (29 Feb 2008)
My 7.0.2 server shows unread marks--synchronized with my Notes client view of my mail file--regardless of whether I use an ND8 or ND7 client against the same replica file.

I just tested this in a folder by switching the read and unread flag on a message and it came through instantaneously...when pressing refresh in the browser. So, I know not what you refer to here.

@ Bill - this does not work in DWA - IBM has confirmed it and has told me they hope to make it work some day. It only works for the Inbox in DWA.

This appears to be coming in 8.5.1. See this link on Mary Beth Raven's blog { Link }

Yeah, I just blogged about it too - very excited!! { Link }

@6, @7 This is good news. And she also mentioned this during her IamLUG session on N8.5.1; so confirmed from multiple sources.

@5, in my @3 and @4 posts, was referring to the Inbox...lacked a bit of articulation there, as you clearly meant folders outside of the Inbox (folder).

Looking forward to 8.5.1!
