Currently DWA users cannot see the unread marks in folders. This can hinder many organizations from a wider deployment of DWA because of email users who can't really effectively use rules in their mail files (without having to go te each folder and see if there are new messages). The competitive product offering from Microsoft (OWA) can show users the number of unread documents in specific folders.
I understand that there may be a performance concern with doing this, but I think this could be controlled via the server configuration document much like other DWA settings. Then let the customer decide if there is a performance issue with this.
