Extend your Notes applications to the Web with Ext.nd
You may have noticed that IdeaJam now looks a bit different. That's because we are testing out some new themes that will be included with IdeaJam V2.0 coming in 2012. If you have any feedback about the new themes we would be happy to hear what you have to say. Please drop us a note.

This session would be an introduction on how to get started in using Ext.nd, a customized Domino version of the Ext JS JavaScript framework (http://extjs.com).  We would cover what Ext.nd has to offer and then walk through how to setup your Domino environment so you could use Ext.nd in your own applications.  We also have a sample Notes application that we would then show how to Web-enable using Ext.nd.

To see a demo of Ext.nd in action look here: http://openntf.org/extnd/demo.nsf

the Ext.nd is just one framework among many and not the most popular. If it were me picking, I'd be looking for something covering frameworks in a more general way.

I know you're good at what you do, and I'm sure your presentation would be excellent. I'd just personally need to see a more broad approach -- in pacticular Dojo and YUI would be tops on my list.

I've teamed up with Lance to do one on Ext.nd vs. Dojomino but I haven't found anyone that has integrated another framework with Domino. I agree it would be nice if there were a Domino customized version of YUI, jQuery, Prototype, or Mootools. Rich and I barely have time for Ext so we're dependent on others stepping up and embracing these other frameworks and integrating them with Domino. So, for those interested, we don't mind showing how to use Ext/Ext.nd in Domino but that's all we really have time for.

@Jack - IdeaJam and LinkJam are built with YUI and MooTools. You should ping Matt White as I am sure he would be happy to talk with you about what we have developed.

Rats, I wish I would have saw this before noon on Friday, maybe we could have submitted a Jumpstart covering several JavaScript frameworks working with Domino: Dojo, ExtJS, jQuery, YUI, MooTools, any more? I think the key to that type of session is to really stress how Domino gives you choices and has the built-in mechanisms (url commands to retrieve xml/json, agents to return anything you want, ?OpenElement to get contents of individual fields, etc.) so you can leverage existing design elements to integrate with any framework. With more and more corporate developers getting the ok to use open-source frameworks its good to show that Domino plays nicely in that world.
