Add Domino Document Manager Templates to Quickr
You may have noticed that IdeaJam now looks a bit different. That's because we are testing out some new themes that will be included with IdeaJam V2.0 coming in 2012. If you have any feedback about the new themes we would be happy to hear what you have to say. Please drop us a note.

With the impending demise of Domino Document Manager (or Dom.Doc, if you prefer), and since Quickr is suppossed to be the love child of QuickPlace and Dom.Doc, wouldn't it make sense to update and add the Dom.Doc templates to Quickr? Seems to me you'd get a ton of functionality without having to reinvent the wheel.

Would it be that difficult to:
  1. Change the logos on the templates of Dom.Doc
  2. Improve the native Dom.Doc workflow
  3. Improve the web enablement within Dom.Doc
  4. Build in a "migration path"
  5. Be able to add it as one of the Quickr placetypes
It seems to me that would have been relatively easy enough and the smartest thing to do.

One reason I like this idea is that web refreshes are much faster in Dom Doc where it utilizes web 1.0 technology. The advantage is in the speed increases when used with extended networks, especially with overseas users when latency is an issue. I like the "briefcase" in Dom Doc as well. Quickr uses DOLS, which is fine, but is not practical with large "places". (see { Link })

I more for concentrating on the quality of the existing product portfolio.
It can be very, very hard to port features from architecture a to architecture b. Domino.Doc did not generate much interest in the market.
Migration path for existing installations is ok, but not more.
