  calDAV and cardDAV are open standards for access to calendar & contacts, and IBM is all about open standards!
We already have support for iCal, vCard, and webDAV in Domino... please stitch them together to provide calDAV & cardDAV support.

This idea is already covered -> { Link }

2) Craig Wiseman24988 (07 Jan 2013)
@Mark... 2 points:
+ Your excellent idea was for CalDAV, but did not include CardDAV.
+ Your excelelnt idea was in 2008, and IBM has not moved on it yet. With Google and Apple's adoption of CalDAV and CardDAV since then, they really need to.
3) Mark Demicoli10736 (07 Jan 2013)
Craig, sit down and breathe deeply. IBM has moved on this (see final comment from the original idea in link above).

IBM "SmartCloud iNotes" implements much of CalDAV and CardDAV. Thanks to Uwe Brahm for pointing this out July last year.

Big question is, "IS IT DOMINO?". Last time I checked iNotes was Domino. It appears that they have built an interface to Domino from a cursory look at the code examples. In other words, Domino HTTP is not serving this up but some something called nginx

HTTP/1.1 207 Multi-Status

Server: nginx

Content-Type: application/xml;charset=utf-8

Cache-Control: private, max-age=0

Expires: Thu May 03 07:52:29 GMT 2012

DAV: 1, access-control, calendar-access, calendar-schedule, calendar-proxy, calendar-auto-schedule

Date: Thu, 03 May 2012 07:52:30 GMT

Content-Length: 693

Connection: close

Set-Cookie: JSESSIONID=8841B7ECB71E8BADB7F92EFCA40A73FA; Path=/calendar; Secure

<D:multistatus xmlns:CS="{ Link } xmlns:C="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav" xmlns:D="DAV:">

<CS:getctag xmlns:ns4="{ Link }

<D:status>HTTP/1.1 200 OK</D:status>

<A:sync-token xmlns:A="DAV:"/>

<D:status>HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found</D:status>

Oh, I am breathing quite nicely in my post-IBM world. ;-)
6) Bill Malchisky12192 (15 Oct 2013)
Demoting as covered in the aformentioned previously linked idea. Nice to get an update on it though.
7) Mark Demicoli10736 (15 Oct 2013)
Craig: How did you do it? :P How long was the withdrawal and is there a DDA (Domino Developers Anonymous) group?
8) Bill Malchisky12192 (15 Oct 2013)
Good question, Mark. Sad that we have to even consider such things, but that is the world where many of us in the community are now located.
9) Craig Wiseman24988 (15 Oct 2013)
@Bill I'm fine with you acting as you feel appropriate... but I don't understand the demote. This idea is for Domino/Traveler, not Smartcloud. We can get cardDAV and calDAV in other on premises and cloud offerings, too, but that's not fodder for a demote (IMHO).
10) Craig Wiseman24988 (15 Oct 2013)
@Mark/Bill. It's turned out to be pretty simple. Every day, you just repeat "yes, this project'd be easier in Notes/Domino, but N/D is on lifesupport and THAT product will feed your kids in a few years."
11) Craig Wiseman24988 (15 Oct 2013)
To elaborate a bit... by "on lifesupport" I mean "we'll keep it going but won't add obvious new features like in the past" Examples: TLS 3.0 support across the board (not just hacked in for HTTP via a kludgy* add-in). Even simple things that should be pretty trivial to add like cardDAV and calDav (since all the underlying pieces are in place).

*look into it... this is literally the definition of kludge:
{ Link }
informal noun
1. an ill-assorted collection of parts assembled to fulfill a particular purpose.
12) Mark Demicoli10736 (15 Oct 2013)
I don't know Craig, as long as they don't make N/D illegal I think it will "carry on like Cobol" ;]
13) Craig Wiseman24988 (15 Oct 2013)
COBOL is still around, but the systems running it have evolved and added features. Since Domino is (was?) an all-in-one system, not having it evolve and add features has a far greater impact.
14) Craig Wiseman24988 (15 Oct 2013)
wow. I'm being too serious, of course. 8-)
15) Bill Malchisky12192 (16 Oct 2013)
Fair enough, Craig. There is a subtle difference between the two. So, why not ask Mark about his demotion too? Quid pro quo. :)
16) Craig Wiseman24988 (29 Oct 2013)
@Bill.. Ok. I agree. Mark is wrong for not promoting this idea. 8-)
17) Mark Demicoli10736 (29 Oct 2013)
OK it's getting cosey in here. Changed vote to +1 in case this database is dug up in 1000 years :)
