Sametime / IM/Chat Client: Make the STHelpers part of the core Sametime client

Idea:

New in Sametime 8 is the ST Helper toolkit. The toolkit is basically COM interfaces into the Sametime client, allowing you to start chats, resolve users, watch users etc.

Sadly this toolkit requires the Office integration to be installed.

I believe this toolkit functionality should be part of native Sametime client, and shouldn't require the office integration to get to it. Especially if someone wants to code things into Office and not use the Sametime Office integration.

Comment: Having Linux/Mac in mind - because it is COM it is Windows proprietary. This might be reason enough for IBM to not include it in the base packages.

Idea:

Very often I have the need to import a graphics into a Domino rich text field. Example JPG or GIF file. Currently there are no backend classes to do this. There should be a simple Lotusscript function to enable this, and allow for options like resize and rotate on import.

Idea:

When you are using the scroll bar in Notes views, it would be great if it popped up with help like 1-2-3 and Excel do showing you the line you are going to stop on, so as you scroll the scroll bar you can see you've reached the Ms or the Ts etc.

Idea:

Most applications enable users to change their password if they login, not Sametime. This should be an option in the Sametime client.

Idea:

1-2-3 has a feature where you can create a new @function based upon a lotusscript function. I would like to see the same feature in Notes/Domino. Allow me in the Database script library to create a lotusscript function and mark it as being available as an @function within that database.

I'm just curious about implementation. How would one mark a function? Or would it be the whole Script Library? Or a new special type of Script Library: LS, Java, Formula (written as LS)?

Idea:

Lotus Notes is still a terrible threaded client form the Users point of view. When I attach a file I should still be to do other tasks in the Notes client. When attaching a files I should be shown a progress indicator, do I have to wait 1 hour or 10 seconds I have no idea. I decided to write this in a browser as I wait for notes to finish uploading a file, it gave me someting to do.

Comment: This should have been done earlier. Maybe its easier eclipse based, though I am not sure as in a lot of areas its a wrapper over the existing code.

Sametime buddylist data is stored in the domino database VPUserinfo.nsf, with Sametime 7.5 they moved to a model of storing the buddylists as XML within the database. What many companies want to do is have their own agents that can manipulate the buddylist data.

Unfortunately the Data is stored as a userdata type that LotusScript cannot manipulate. Please make it so that LotusScript can access the data.

Currently, you have to jump through loops by refreshing views and issue tell commands on the server console to make it so that a user who self registers on the web has immediate access. This doesnt' work for high volume websites.

This should be an intrinsic feature of Domino, and developers should not have to perform acrobatics to make it happen.

Out of the box Domino should ship with a database that:

* Allows for self registration with optional email confirmation step

* Allows for password change (optional)

* Allows for password reminder emails (optional)

Thank you for posting this idea. On this site as well as OpenNTF's we do some wiz bang magic that allows you to login right after registration. Let me say that our technique is highly inefficient however it works for a site like Idea Jam.
