That's a good point. Btw. this makes the use of SaaS rather senseless, because most of the SaaS models are only used as storage/document editing/messaging/calendaring...

XPages, IMHO can boost this SaaS functionality to any SMB needed Cloud app...

Approach as you want - of course there is a need for centralized spam prevention in a 'open-to-the-world' Domino Maildomain.

Let all the corporate end-users fiddling around the same spam from same senders parallelly with similar rules & deleting it every morning, througout the day and especially each monday doesn't make their work cost-effective, believe me.

I saw a similar concept working on a well known webmail service here in Turkey. You just sign the "D'oh - viagra-me!" mail as spam. The mail is in the trashbox, the service backend puts the spammy sender to the general blacklist of the mailservice for all users, and after a given period, the spam address is going to be deleted (FIFO). That keeps the own corporate spamlist rule moderate...

Edit the ACL of each Document is time consuming in general. Wouldn't it be smarter to modify your mocked up functionality to modify a directory ACL, for example? All Included files would inherit the directory ACL then. In this case I would appreciate this....

But neither you nor Peter gave me a reasoned answer, why millions of business users/admins trust on Spamrules delivered,controlled & updated by Hardware Firewall vendors...'External Spamrule databases' can be accepted, but (_revised_) internal Spamrules wouldn't? Come on..;)

Another case as an example:
I wonder how Companies use (according to your objection) embedded Firewalls with integrated Spammail filtering function in countless companies. All these rules are controlled by the service deliverer!?

Companies trust on this service (Sonicwall etc.) and not on their own colleagues? That makes no sense. That would be embarrasing btw..

Thanks god Domino's integrated mbl filtering function does a significant good job (if you poll the right MBL servers) at least.

The concept in itself is (IMHO) the correct way, nothing wrong in here: centralized serverside Spamrule Management is better than muddled personal junk folders.

Keep the mail.box clean, avoid wasted internal traffic & wasted Server CPU cycles for junk mail transportation to the clients...

That's simple: A company can add a simple condition in their NDA for that kind of possible "nasty ones"...

Actually, it seems obvious that customizing Quickr Themes is able. But this is not the essential intention here. The scope is different.

To be honest "the how easy" buzzwords is a must, if you want to compete with a "setup & run" Portal.

Perhaps there is no miracle in customizing quickr if you are a great html/j/jscript/x(ht)ml/css coder.

But usually Admins aren't coders otherwise they would be designers, coders and not - admins.

If you play around with some GPL'ed tools like WordPress, Joomla, SMF, Drupal and so on you might figure out what "the power of easy theming" means.

As an 'out-of-the-box' tool, which Quickr really wants to be, easy customization is a serious step ahead...

The mystic way of cooperation between main.nsf, contacts1.nsf & search.nsf databases in a Place with it's referencing orgy to dojo/ajax/jscript objects, widgets, icons etc. in a flat folder/container (not another nsf-object library) within a domino database is a nifty development of the IBM team.

But it has not very much to do with easy customization as a necessary concept for Portals, and it is really elusive, even for skilled web designers.

So the scope is the way how it's customized. Not _that_ Quickr is principally customizable.

Would be great, of course. The Websphere Version does it. Why are we stuck on one language at the Domino version?

IBM could engineer that stuff out:
a good balance between responsiveness of large nsf's and nsf's nifty features like ft-indexing, view refreshes, compacting objects etc.

Or better described:
IBM, just turn the nsf's to become "smart" for itself :-)

The only alternative would be a more simple implementation & integration w/db2 enablement in Lotus Domino...

I'm with Peter. It may be possible, that there are significant Apple Users in the US.

But outside the US, it's a Linux Designer & Admin Client, the vast majority of course eagerly is waiting for.

It's by any means necessary as IBM committed itself to Linux, btw.
