## Jan Schulzdocument.write(LANG_PROFILE_TITLE);4378

### notes.ini variabel to exclude internal NotesNames from Recent Contacts (23 Jan 2010)

Interesting read... Especialy as that seems to be the only webpage that mentions this settings :-/

Anyway, after reading it, I think this won't work because my groupnames have no common substring (groups are "group" not "group/domain") and even if, this substring might remove too much.

### Lower Lotus licensing cost for students (06 Dec 2009)

I'm currently using Notes as a stand alone mail product (SMTP/POP3 instead of a domino) and it's kind of painfull...

* Date/Time in inbox is the time when the doc is put in the DB instead of the sending time (officially documented somewhere how to fix by changing the @Formula in the folder design)
* Answers to invitations from Outlook (and probably Notes) are not send out, because the sender is set to a normal email address and not your ID name and the "replicator" (=SMTP client) thinks that it is added by another ID and so not sending it out (Bug filed, waiting for a reply).
* The ToDo Updater (which puts ToDos into the "Overdue" state) needs to be activated manually via designer (and after each design update)
* Local Rule execution needs to be done via a OpenSource Addon (on ONTF)
* No Spam engine out of the box (can be done via POP3 proxy)

Putting that out as a "personal edition" will be a instant fail, even with such great products like eProductivity (which is the only reason I use Notes like that). There is just no "added value" for a student to use (and play with) Notes as a standalone product and adding a domino to the equation is just to big: just the requirement that you need your mail sent to the SMTP task (=MX) is a big nogo for most people :-( and running a internet facing server is no small task.

Just to make that clear: I would love to have Lotus Notes licensed to student organizations: they have the power to use the collaboration infrastructure, which makes Notes so great. Even for 'one student' it would be nice. But the problem is not so much the cost for the license, but also to give something as a motivation to use and play with it.

### Using Notes://. Add support for query_string parameters in Notes (07 Nov 2009)

No, especially as the other issue was about different actions which are not yet supported :-)

### Make it possible to run two different standard Clients with differnet IDs at the same time (13 Oct 2009)

@3: do you have a How-To?

The old style was calling the programm again with different "=c:\Path\to\notes.ini" arguments. This only works if you use the 'nlnotes.exe' instead of notes.exe. notes.ee first checks if there is a running instance of notes.exe and just passes controll to that. So nowadays, I can't start (standard) Notes and therefor the eclipse designer with that.

### DB defined keyboard shortcuts (08 Sep 2009)

@4: I have such applications, which I use the whole day, thats where I got the idea :-) One example is my eProductivity mailfile. Haveing a shotcut for "turn into a action" or "mark as complete" would be great...

### Bug: profile is not saveable (07 Sep 2009)

Works now, thanks!

### Bug: profile is not saveable (07 Sep 2009)

Status changed to Withdrawn

### Link more than one Idea (07 Sep 2009)

Please also make it possible to link to arbitrary ideas, not only the ones whic get preselected (by the same tags?).

### Support opera web browser (07 Sep 2009)

Either you did something or opera: my latest opera 10 is now able to add idea descriptions. Nice.

Funnily my FF 3.5.1 is not able to input descriptions anymore...

### DB defined keyboard shortcuts (07 Sep 2009)

@Theo: is that better?

In recent(?) versions, we have the possibility to add to the right click menu, now I want keyboard shortcuts...

### Make it easier to follow ideas, which are important to me (but not mine) (28 Aug 2009)

Profile: ok, didn't look there since singing up for ideajam. Anyway: I don't want to get flooded by emails, I want to have it shown on a nice page :-) (the "lotus knows case")

BTW: I can't save my profile, after clicking save I get a "no access" login window and end up on the homepage when I fill in user/PW.
BTW2: what is the right way to communicate such problems/bugs? Another idea?

Star: It took my two minutes just to grasp, what star you meant :-) Never occurred to me that this is something different than pure decoration. Maybe a "tips" section or a "tip of the day" would help to find such gems.

And thanks: that will come in handy :-)

### Support opera web browser (20 Aug 2009)

current status: I can edit ideas, but when I save them the description (FCKEditor field) is not transmitted/saved and the text is therefor lost. It works when there is no FCKEditor like in the lotus knows ideajam.

Maybe make that editor customizable via a cookie?

### Make the after-voting popup better looking (20 Aug 2009)

@1: done (problem with FCKeditor and opera...)

### Vote on Comments (06 Aug 2009)

I didn't read it as "voting for comments counts for the idea", but as "if there are different opinions in the comments, voting shows which is more important". As comments can make ideas clearer or expand them, I miss such a feature right now and would love to have it.

### Make it possible to use one language in every design element (24 Jul 2009)

No, not "only one language", but that all design elements can be used by that language. So no "@Formula" only in computed text and the mix with SSJS and LS with the new xPages.

### Make Peter good looking :-) (21 Jul 2009)

At least from my point of view, this is done :-) Thanks!

### Connect to more than one Sametime server in Notes client (19 Jul 2009)

I have only the 8.0.2 Client installed, without the ST Connect and I have a "Server Communities" Tab in the Notes Client (Standard, not basic!) Preferences.

### Use inline login window, when not loged in (Session timeout) (14 Jul 2009)

But this is really an idea about what happens when you are not (anymore) loged in, not about short session timeouts (on other sites). So not an admin problem but an idea for the developers :-)

### Develop and open source a high quality framework for new DBs (13 Jul 2009)

Ah: and some conflict resolution tools for users/DB Admins

### Use inline login window, when not loged in (Session timeout) (13 Jul 2009)

It's not so much an issue here as in the eProductivity ideajam. The session timeout there seems to be 1/2 hour, so it happens quite frequently. But this is a problem anyway: I usually surf new ideas and open them in several tabs. Then I want to comment on them and have to reload the page to get the comment textarea (the same problem with votes seem to be fixed, at least I get the links to promote/demote. Nice. Not so nice: I also get them on my own ideas -> isn't there a way to save the username in a cockie?)

### Include Request_Content in DocumentContext for Web Service Providers (10 Jul 2009)

Ok, in an agent... Sorry...

### Make XPages generate better html code (05 Jul 2009)

@Julian Buss: The Idea itself is not about standard complient (I let that out on purpose, as I know that this is a fragile argument), but I would argue, that standard compliant reduces your risk to blow up future browsers (see @6), makes the code easier to read, cleaner and smaller, and also accessible. Also, I don't see any reason to not do it in a framework: if you can do it as easily standard complient than not, why risk the non standard complient way? Why make it hard for people to do it properly?

Not every page needs to be standard complient, but xpages is not only not comliant by design, it goes a long way to discard any proper coding convention there is in modern web dev.

For the JS issue: xpages will be used in web pages (see this ideajam or the IamLug website) and people will complain if their pages will not get into google, because goole won't see the content. Again: why make it hard to be a good guy?

A Framewokr should make good code easy and not hard.

### Ability to detach and remove file attachments from multiple emails at once (04 Jul 2009)

There is an agent in the openntf code bin, which does exactly that: select several mails, actions -> delete attachments -> all attachments get deeltet from that emails.

Just copy it to you mailtemplate and you are done. But I promoted anyway, because altering your mail template gets a pain in the a** at each update...

### Make XPages generate better html code (04 Jul 2009)

Tell that google... Or screenreader (Wasn't there a law in some contries to make your websites accessible in certain circumstances?) There is a difference between using JS everywhere to enhance your browsing experience and leaving out a way to use it without JS.

### Make XPages generate better html code (24 Jun 2009)

But that's the problem: it's hard to do the right thing with XPages as the default is this mess, but it should be the other way round: make it easy to build proper modern and standard complying pages and hard to build a mess.

### Add a @formula to evaluate group membership (24 Feb 2009)

Oups: Theo! Sorry!

### Add a @formula to evaluate group membership (24 Feb 2009)

Status changed to Withdrawn

### Add a @formula to evaluate group membership (24 Feb 2009)

for my usecase the @userNameList is enough. Thanks Teo for the tip, you learn something new every day...

### circular use of script libs (18 Nov 2008)

@3: this is using variants, so is not compile save :-(

### Deploying Notes Clients - standardized, managable, lean! (12 Sep 2008)

And please make the charts available...

### Allow partial document hierarchies in a view (21 Jul 2008)

Isn't this possible with composite apps? IIRC there was such an setting when you added the notes.ini variable for viewing Composite App settings. No idea if/how that works...

### Manual replication to all servers in the domain (01 Jun 2008)

Add a textfile named "replicate_all" to the data folder, add as many "replicate <server> names.nsf" lines as needed and then in the console "< replicate_all". Ok, it's just a workaround...

### DWA light Support for Opera (19 May 2008)

My own: I use opera as my only web client (private and corporate: I've installed it on my local drive) and hate it when some sites just don't go half an hour to check their code in different browsers. Just use standards and it should work with the benefit, that you don't even need two different implementations (as in dwa full *and* light. Safari will probably add a third, at least in forms8.nsf are already some forms for safari)... There is probably just one small error to make it work like in FF.

Just to make it clear: I don't want perfect or even supportet, just that there are no obvious errors because of some strange implementation details. Same as the usual beta web2.0 stuff: it's not supported, but have fun anyway.

I tried to hack forms8.nsf, but this DB is just $/+#&$~: unreadable and undebugable JS code and I don't even have an idea *how* that code is generated: changing some of the forms seems to have no effect. If someone has an idea how to hack this DB, just drop me an email: jasc@gmx.net

### Add Policy for Feeds (18 May 2008)

I thought so too, but couldn't find anything.

### Support Deny Access for IMAP (27 Mar 2008)

Wow, thanks! The 'enforce server access' was "no"... I should change this idea to better document that and default to "yes"

### Buttons should have a 'No Focus on Click' property (19 Mar 2008)

Yes, bitten by that only yesterday...

### Fix CA so person creating user accounts does not need access to mail file to create cluster replica (19 Mar 2008)

But please don't restrict it to cluster: we have a central mailserver, but most user work from a local server, having their mailfile there (local server is reachable via LAN, but the central mailserver only via DSL. DSL also prevents havig the mailserver at the local server). Each time we add a user someone has to add a new replica to the local server.

### Adding new parameters to Notesdatabase.CreateReplica (17 Mar 2008)

We have exactly this problem...

### customise Mail Quota Warning (26 Feb 2008)

Costumizing system databases = No so nice :-( But better than nothing. AnywaY: It would be nice if this could be pushed via a policy...

### Support opera web browser (24 Feb 2008)

Fixed it in FF... :-/

### Support opera web browser (24 Feb 2008)

ok, it didn't come out at all: I changed the text, but all that happend was, that the old text was htmlified :-(

### Support opera web browser (24 Feb 2008)

Ok, I change that: I can edit, but i comes out very badly :-( Unfortunately I've no idea how to fix this...

### Support opera web browser (24 Feb 2008)

Fun: I've no idea what you did, but I get the full coex edit field now (but not in this comment field). Nice to see that coex seems to support opera :-) I will update the idea to reflect this.

System is a WinXP SP2, Opera 9.5 beta

### Allow multiple addresses for group and mail-in database docs like person docs do (23 Feb 2008)

Doesn't Notes do this job for you? We have several groups and MailIn DBs, which habe more than one Notes Name but one internet Name (for example one MailIn DB: helpdesk<linfeed>DNSMaster<linefeed>admin... and Internet Name ist 'helpdesk@<domain.de>'). And we get mails for all of them via the domain configuration (which defines just <domain.de>). So the support case would just be to add all names to the notes name and be done...

### Help certify NTFS Defragmentation tools (16 Feb 2008)

The move around was just what we did (instead of defrag, we reformated the partition, as it was almost dominodata only :-)

### Help certify NTFS Defragmentation tools (16 Feb 2008)

ext2 seems to solve this problem, as it allocates space in a block bigger than the initial file. So a hopefully copy-style compact will solve our problem. Having somthing like your parameter or the idea with 'certain-size'-DBs seems to be good idea nevertheless...

### Show login box on the top of homepage (15 Feb 2008)

BTW: I'm usually doing something like this: browse the site, open a few ideas (i love tabs...) and then I try to vote on a idea. When I do that, i have to be loged in, so I click on login on the idea page and get rejected, because I have no editor access to that page. It might be good to rename that login link to 'login and edit (if you are author) and a extra login link without the &EditDocument or provide a redirect, which figures out if I want to edit that page or just vote on it.

### Help certify NTFS Defragmentation tools (14 Feb 2008)

We had a problem on ext3, which made the domino doing its maintainance tasks about 5 times longer (8h instead of 1,5 for a compact) than with a fresh filesystem... And the FS was not even half full :-(

### Add email or event notifications to Program Documents (14 Feb 2008)

Or a DDM Probe, which fires if this takes more than x hours or is ready after x:xx...

### Implement Sender Policy Framework / Sender Rewriting Scheme (14 Feb 2008)

The problem is more, that others have implmented SPF and when you have mailinglists or users with forwarded mails, mail send from external domains forwarded to external domains (somone@gmx.net -> mailinglist@mydomain.com -> someonelese@gmx.net) will be considered Spam (someoneelse@gmx.net will NOT receive the mail! -> Try it with tow GMX mails...). I don't want SPF implemented, I want to have the ability to rewrite the sender ("Sender Rewriting Scheme", the answer to this problem) so that a site with SPF will not consider it spam.

Maybe I should a new Idea with only this topic...

### Group topology (07 Feb 2008)

We have patched our mobile directory (like CDC, just with group members) with a View to all groups which one member/group/... is in...

### List warnings when compiling LotusScript code (07 Feb 2008)

<dream>And then I want quickFix like in eclipse java editor... </>

### error messages from the http engine should have some configuration facility (07 Feb 2008)

shouldn't domino return a http header with this information? If so, your ajax should check this header and not parse the text return.

### Change the "An error was encountered while opening a window." error message (06 Feb 2008)

Why doesn't notes offer this? Something like "Notes detected an instance of Notes: did Notes crash? <kill old notes instance> <close this window>"

### Add "Documentation" Object to Info List (02 Feb 2008)

proper javadoc like functionality would be even better...

### Sort Mail by Subject - Plus (10 Jan 2008)

This would also be usefull for the 'type and open' feature in Views: looking for 'Re: Message' and typing "mes" ...

### Improved file upload system (08 Jan 2008)

For me it would already be enought to have some way to code your own html for -say- 5 Fileuploads and have them included in the right fields and are able to access them in a reliable manner (file 1 is from teh first upload...). Without the ugly or workarounds...

### Allow users to have multiple signature files which they can easily choose from (08 Dec 2007)

Yes, please :-) I'm using the mentioned paste information, but I would love to have such a simple button :-)

### Be able to print all contents of embedded views (30 Nov 2007)

I would like to have that same option in the Notes-UI too... -> fit the whole content of the view into the doc.

### Add Function type for variables, attributes and parameters (27 Nov 2007)

Whats the problem with objects and a member function, which has to be called back (Observer pattern or Visitor pattern)?

### Implement Sender Policy Framework / Sender Rewriting Scheme (08 Nov 2007)

droped you an email to your gmail account with the screeshots.

### Implement Sender Policy Framework / Sender Rewriting Scheme (08 Nov 2007)

Ok, edited my posting, so it should be fine.

### Implement Sender Policy Framework / Sender Rewriting Scheme (08 Nov 2007)

No, I'm using opera, but there is no RT Editor visible, just a plain text area :-(

It seems that I produced a save conflict, at least my repaired and edited entry is not visible, only the old broken version.

It would be great if you could fix that...

BTW: there are other problems with the design of the webside, for example the comment textarea is not directly under the last comment and the Introduction and the Top30 are below the comments, not to one side. This page is something like 5 Pages long. Is there a bug page?
