Employee/admin says she needs to know at a quick glance what is satill outstanding.
A reasonable request given we let people choose colors for c/s, who an email is from etc..
I made the items highlighted for her.

David, External monitoring systems are not exactly the answer either. One could buy GSX or Vital Signs from RPRWyatt or a few other items.
BUT the problem is when your mail server goes down you can't get email.
But you could get a Tweet or some other method of coded ping in IM, like a Sametime Bot perhaps.

Bill, yes valid points but this would take IBM about 2 minutes to just change the default. The policy could be setup but not everyone does it I think. although I could be wrong.
But it is a shame there is no * for all time open. think about all the ibmers trying to setup a WW meeting and never finding a free time :-)

Bruce, It is a quantity thing obviously. More people using it, more you need to manage it. One less manual process when involved in a failure situation is always better than one more thing to possibly get done incorrectly.
Not for everyone's environment but looking for feedback for IBM on this topic.

As a Lotus group owner to one of the top groups I am trying to figure out how to merge them all into one. A fractured community can not really grow.
Some have pointed out that by having one group we would allow competitors to point out we only have one group and it has xx number of people.
Both views are valid, but if you want an active community, then truly one group must exist, not the 200+ when searching for Lotus or Domino or Notes.

Alan, The message could be suppressed, however, as we migrate users we want to now who is still forwarding perhaps? Or when new people get registered we want to know they are correct is what we are using it for but it's bad design on IBM's part.

set up a pop or imap connection document and let it know which file to download to.
You need to know the pop address and your login/pword and that's it.

I want it to be spread out over multiple columns, perhaps by a comma or a space or a tab.

This way bulk data can easily be sorted(well sorted better) and made use of.

While I was part of the Europe Lotusphere's and felt they were just as useful as orlando, they were also sometimes viewed as a repeat with no new information.
The LCTY events and other LUG events as Julian and others posted serve a similar and better purpose and meet most people's budgets.

That said I'd like Devcon to come back so lotusphere is not so full of developer sessions so one doesn't have to trade off what to attend and when. When triple booked for almost every hour of 3 days is not a good thing always. It used to be the sphere was about marketing, infrastructure and some developer but as ancillary products come out 4 days for everything and everyone is a tough one.

Better yet, when running a rename of user(due to marriage/divorce or whatever) we should get prompted to ask if we need to change their mail file name, janedoe.nsf to janedone.nsf.
Also that their email address get changed accordingly and the old one added to the alias/short field.

Aside from the obvious answer which is why we MUST keep to some archaic 15+ year old format?
We or rather my clients, pay a LOT of money so some 10 year old who designs their graphics comes up with something useful, yet we can't use it for an icon or in some circumstances like say letter head graphics because of this crazy sizing and format issue?

I deal with some local mailers because they need to know how an email looks in r5,6,7 and R8. They can appear differently naturally.
No, I do not check every point release of versions, I have some sanity left.
Either there is a standard, and we stick to it, or there isn't one and we should conform to one that works.
And definitely wihtin our own mail clients.

That was what they told me too. We had some issues with emails spamming people because of our web host. and thus we pay the price to move to another port.

I agree not everyone wants/needs this option and a way to turn it off would be helpful for those that do not.
It's another thing from the Outlook people. I pointed out to them that what they "see" is the same as if they went to the replication page/tab.
But that's not how they see it because in Outlook the synch window popsup(unless you tell it not to) where the replicator page doesn't popup.

Servers usually just need to receive SMTP and send usually under 25.
That said just yesterday I was notified by Comcast that I can no longer email out on 25 but MUST use 587.
Luckily the emailed me this change otherwise I would have been tearing Domino apart.

I think Bill was trying say there are times when one needs to do a repetitive action on the NAB and there is no native way to do so today.
As an example I needed to populate internet address fields, after the fact, and a simple action was the quickest way to do it.

I agree with this, to a point. The problem has become Lotus is no longer JUST about Notes and Domino, Sametime, The revitalized Quickr or the lost step child DomDoc.So now many things need to get fitted in to a small space.
But it would be nice if all Sametime was on one day or afternoon, but reality says too many topics, sessions, and everyone needs to be busy.
We can't all hang out in the Blogger's Lounge 24x7.

If I stay off site again, I always ask if anyone neerds a lift. But you know at 1am, y'all are just getting started.

We all like to think it's a bunch of old time experts(I've been in this since 92) but it's just not true.
And last year I had a number of clients call me and do training for them because the stuff at the sphere was too advanced for them, they just didn't get it all. And to be honest, I don't knwo it all either anymore.

To be fair, it is, and for good reason, and I don't want to dumb Lotusphere down at all. But we do have to help those who are stuck where we were once.
I love teaching advanced admin, but I get asked to do more basic ones usually because so many new admins are thrown to the wolves.

As I said in comments on Paul's blog, I am trying to work with Lotus on this, either with them or without them. Naturally want to do it with them and so I will update everyone as I know more.
Suffice it to say I am currently after sponsors of various items, from freebies(you want them as does anyone who visits), drinks, ecofriendly furntiure and other accoutrements plus some other odds and ends.

You all are forgetting Notes has this built in by default.
From your open mail file pick an email, open it so it's not in preview mode, click File-Export, select type to save as, then where to save it.
What is the problem?

I just did such a project and for 15+ templates from R4-r8! What a pain and R4 series were different because Calendar Profile only came along in R5.
Internally it is always wanted/needed. Yes when it gets sent outside the company it is useless, but you know there is something about having your logo in your email.

You should note you can disable the Productivity tools from loading, this will cut your time down immensely.

The group discount byt he way i believe only shaved off a $100, still it's something, but the clp discount would be better for many(not I, never did certs in 15 years) but i woouldn't hold my breath. Once IBm got everyone to pay anyway, they most likely will not reverse decision.

I have been playing with the idea of hosting domino services, blogs, apps for a while. The reason, and no offense to my friends from connectria and the other Domino hosts, is they are expensive.
Even if you go to 1and1 who will give you a server(linux or windows) for $100-120 a month. that is still too expensive for me in my opinion from my personal side, from a corporate side it's pretty reaosnable.
$10 a month is probably the minimum it would have to be charged.
Most services charge businesses $10/month per user for email alone.
But I am going to host Sametime as well or host a universal gateway for everyone.
Any interested parties contact me offline as I am in discussion now and could have it up by Dec.
Seperate Domains cost more because the host site charges per IP address monthly.
A la carte, blogging would be nominal, maybe $50/year, email would be more.
Sametime would likely also be $50/year per person.

Ben, thanks for all the hard work. As a windows mobile user I would like to see it as a browser solution. I put it on a web server last year but it was not always so easy on the little screen.
In the end I selected ones I liked and cut/paste them into my C/S and replicated them to me phone, which I found to be the best usage of it wihtout having to open my laptop.
So if you can add a "select to add to your Calendar" option that would be excellent for me. It should include the title, description, time, place, speaker.

Reporting from Domino Administrator in a format that you can provide CIO/IT Management using the presenter or spreadsheet.
Grab stats and the log and produce numbers to validate how in use the network is, # of dbs, data transmitted, number of mails.
Quantify it in simple ways and you can easily jsutify more funding from management.

Richard, the flip side of this request is to make my mail "float" so it can be anywhere on my workspace. Like I can do with Sametime.

As someone who uses a Notes client as his only client (ok I have a yahoo mail account when all else fails) I don't see the logic in this request.
Either use the full client or not, but if you want a simple home client, this just will never be it.
The R5 and other "Notes lite" clients just never did enough or were too much effort to maintain.
Now using this as a webmail base for people might get further than as a home pop/imap client.

My 2 cents are this.
As an independent, it costs me about $1,000 in hotel/travel/food/etc.(I don't stay at the Swan or Dolphin)
Show, $1,895 (last year 12% cheaper at 1,695)
Week of no billing, $5,000+ so Lotusphere costs me $8,000 and I don't even exhibit.
As long as I can make some good contacts and a client or 2 it balances out, but for us small BPs its hard.
Anyone who wants to meet up let me know.
Also maybe next year the independants should get together and we can at least get a group discount :-) My User group could do it fo rnext year.

@4, I stayed there last year at the pop century, for the same or less money, a much better place is the best western by Downtown Disney, IMHO. Pop century really is not better than a $49 place on the strip of I-4 or 192. But if the Lotusphere bus goes there it is probably worth it for some people.
Best Western had a great breakfast if you like $6 buffet, eggs salad fruit, juice coffee etc.Free FAST wireless access and you can walk home from the bars in downtown disney ay night.
Downside is no Lotusphere buses but I have my car. I like the cab idea, it might be cheaper than parking.

actually no it doesn't as most people use an ISP. In a corp setting perhaps this would be required to validate proper sender.
But I have yet to have a problem when I send from Adelphia/Comcast to anyone from any of my email domains.
In my case I can only use one SMTP outgoing, my ISP, when I try through other locations, aside from "send from Domino server" it would fail.
In my accounts setup I have the SMTP listed for all users usage.
