To make Domino a real "Internet Application Server", it would be nice for IBM to offer a Domino Internet Application Server that is built to use either OAuth, OpenID, or Facebook Connect as an authentication mechanism. The server would be priced similar to the way the Utility server is priced, but would not contain all the Domino services. SMTP, Replication, Indexing and AdminP would be included, but the server would not allow access via Notes Client and would contain a minimal Domino Directory. A new, simplified, browser-based Admin client could be created to manage the authentication mechanisms and to manage application deployment.

Sean, I agree with the support part of this idea, but not the limitations. The licensing would need to not be based on registered users, though. If IBM is to develop a new Admin interface to this server, it'll never get done.

They should just add the connectors to normal Domino. We've been looking at some of these mechanisms. But we would use it to provide choice. So it would have no effect on licensing.

@Peter If they can develop new interfaces for their cloud offering's, they can do it for this also.
@Paul IBM would only be able to support this on servers that are licensed by the server capacity, not ones that are licensed by number of users.
My reasoning for having it as a separate license/server would be to allow BPs to put it in a non-Domino environment more easily. Adding this capability to a Utility server should also be in the cards.
