And have it in Late Fall instead of dead of winter where the weather in FL is hit or miss.  People who want to fly in can still fly in and if folks want to drive from the continental US, it's more centrally located.  Plus I'm betting the conference center in Nashville is cheaper than Disney... maybe bring the price down on 'Sphere passes?

Hey look at that! It can go into the negative. At least I have a real number value of 2 at the moment.

(1) There are not so many venues that can handle that kind of a crowd. A ball room than hold 6,000 people is a tall order for starters. Never mind the rest.

(2) Need to have a LOT of hotels in the surrounding area

(3) Airfare is generally speaking cheap, as are the hotel prices sine it's off season.

(4) You would be surprised at what hotel catering costs, even in lower rent areas.

(5) A good chunk of the price I would suspect is profit.

The list could go on for a while....

well if we are suggesting new locations - how about London!

If anything else than Florida, then Oshkosh, there are some cool experimental aeroplanes :)

Or then to Lappland, you don't need a hotel - you can just sleep under a tree!

You can bring the Fam with you and they can enjoy Disney and get the room on the "company". Orlando is easy to get to and is very nice in Jan. I think it's a bad idea.

To bring the family so they can go to Disney and other parks at obscenely high "discount prices"? Nah, would break the bank I would love to have it someplace else for variety sake, but the added logistical costs would probably push the price of a ticket even higher.

Flights to Orlando are cheap from anywhere, as FL wants tourism. Not so with flights to Nashville or Lexington. The catering and service at Disney are well-regarded and definitely work well with people who have food allergies--not so in those areas. As @2 mentioned...the list for staying is quite lengthy.

Thanks for the humor.

Lexington wouldn't know what to do with this bunch...and I should know, I live there.
10) Robert Baehr325 (07 Dec 2007)
I'll stick with Orlando. It seems to work too well there to warrant a move.

Its been said before, why not come back to Europe? Berlin was an excellent venue and the ICC still reminds me of Battlestar Galactica.

A sizable proportion of LS attendees are from 'across the water' and although Florida is a good venus, it still attracts the negative 'junket' when people hear about Disney. FWIW, apart from the evening 'events', you could be anywhere.......

Come back to Berlin! (Or even try out Vienna or Prague?)

I vote for same dates in January ... but move to Winnipeg, Manitoba ... then ONLY real Lotus Enthusiasts will attend. ; )
