I've had users create multiple archives, either when receiving their new PC and the archive was copied from their previous PC, or when they have a desktop & a laptop and inadvertently archive to their laptop while their primary archiving had been completed on the desktop. When I copied the files to the same PC, then tried to set the archive settings, the only way the settings could be accessed was by going to File -> Application -> Properties, then clicking on the Archive settings button. However, there is no "Actions -> Archive" when looking at the menu options while in the archive file.

In previous versions of Notes, if a user had multiple archive files, I could go into each archive, point them to a single archive file, and archive from an archive to a single archive file.  In 8.5.x it appears that there is an archive profile document that indicates the db is an archive, and the options "Actions -> Archive" are no longer available.  Please reinstate this functionality!!!

I posted this problem on the IBM LDD forum and received a response that indicates this is still possible, but not in the same manner as using "Actions->Archive" once the archive settings have been set:

Archive actions were removed from archive dbs in 8.5.1...

Because there were many customer complaints that it was too easy for users to accidentally archive from their archive dbs. The decision was made that archive functions should be hidden from within archive dbs.

Personally, I still like the availability of this with Actions->Archive instead of File->Application-.Archive.

But you can still create/modify criteria sets through File - Application - Properties - Archive Settings (as you mentioned), and can run these through File - Application - Archive.

Alternatively, deleting the archive database profile will indeed cause Notes to treat the archive db as a mailfile, and the archive actions to be available again.

Likewise, if you happened to have any pre-8.5.1 mail templates lying around, you could replace design with one of those, and the archive db would again have the archive actions.
