It would be SOOOOOO much nicer to have a checkbox in the field properties that would
allow the field to be generated as a TEXTAREA field instead of an INPUT field on
the web. That would be so much easier and more logical that the crap we have to
go through now with having it be a multivalue field, et al. It would also be more evident
to new Notes Developers and remove the issues with the value being stored as multiple
values on the back end.

I think you misinterpreted my idea. Of course I want fields of that are of Checkbox field type to be saved as multiple values. What I want is a checkbox in the field properties that you can click to display the field as a text area. Similar to the way you can say if a field is a multi-value field.

This is is already available. Sinply make a couple adjustments to your regular text field.
1. Create text editable field.
2. Make field multivalue. Select NewLine as one of the options (you can also put checks by semicolon and blank line)
3. Update the field's HTML properties for {rows="6" cols="40" wrap="virtual"}
4. That's it. Your field will now be a text area field w/o being a RTF (rich text field).

@Tripp - That's exactly my point. You shouldn't have to do that to generate a textarea. This is one of those things that people outside of Notes would go "You have to do what?" and laugh their heads off.
