Release the LotusScript Editor when its ready and not wait for 8.5.1 
You may have noticed that IdeaJam now looks a bit different. That's because we are testing out some new themes that will be included with IdeaJam V2.0 coming in 2012. If you have any feedback about the new themes we would be happy to hear what you have to say. Please drop us a note.

According to Lotus, the Eclipse environment gives the possibility to deploy functional updates to things outside a major release.  We've seen the new and upcoming LotusScript editor for DDE, shown off at Lotusphere 09.

So of course I asked:  why not release the LS editor for DDE when it is ready,  as an Eclipse update, rather than wait for 8.5.1. Doing that would show that Lotus could do such a release, and for sure the developer community would like it.

Great idea. I would go one step further and decouple designer entirely from the client & server release cycle. Making DDE an Eclipse plug-in that could work with Notes/Domino all the way back to version 6.5 would be huge, and go a long way to make up for all the years of pain that developers have suffered with inadequate tooling.
